School Plant as Predictors of Academic Achievement in Junior Secondary School Basic Science in Oyo State, Nigeria

Basic Science serves as a foundation for more specialised scientificdisciplines such as physics, chemistry, and biology. Students who lacka solid foundation in Basic Science may struggle with core sciencesubjects, leading to negative attitudes and poor performance. This, inturn, may affect their admission into tertiary institutions to studyscience-related courses. It is crucial to address the factors that contributeto the decline in the standard of education in Nigeria, including theperformance of Integrated Science departments, to ensure that studentsreceive a solid foundation in Basic Science and other scientificdisciplines. Basic Science, also known as Integrated Science, is asubject taught in junior secondary schools across Nigeria, both in publicand private institutions. The aim of this subject is to broaden students'understanding of science and its interconnectedness with other scientificfields.
