Impact of E-Learning on Learners Academic Achievement in Secondary Schools in Olamaboro Local Government Area, Kogi State

This study focused on finding out the impact of e-learning on the
academic performance of students in Secondary Schools in Olamaboro
Local Government Area, Kogi-State. Descriptive survey design was
used for the study. The Population is made of all teachers and
students in the secondary schools spread across twenty six (26)
schools in Olamaboro LGA., with three thousand, five hundred and
seventy students (3,570) and two hundred and five teachers (205)
respectively. The sample size for this study is two hundred and eight
(208) using simple random sampling technique through balloting
without replacement was used to select three teachers from each of
the twenty six schools making 78 teachers and five students each
making a total of 130 students. The instrument used for this study
was a self-structured questionnaire titled impact of E-learning on the
academic achievement of students Questionnaire (IELAASQ). The
instrument for data collection was validated to determine the reliability of the instrument, Cronbach Alpha of 0.72 was obtained. All
the 208 representing (100%) the questionnaire was rated on a four
point response scale. The findings among others reveal that; e-learning
impact positively on the academic performance of students and that
some challenges are faced by students in an e-learning programme.
Based on the findings of this study, recommendations were made
including that, E-learning programme should be adopted in teaching
and learning. Also, training programme should be organized for
teachers in the use of e-learning tools etc.
