This paper explores the ethical considerations surrounding data management practices and user privacy within academic libraries, highlighting the significance of these issues in the context of increasing data collection and analysis. Despite the growing awareness of ethical challenges, existing research has often been limited in scope, failing to provide comprehensive frameworks for addressing the complexities of data management. This study critiques previous literature, noting that while ethical challenges such as user privacy and data protection are recognized, actionable guidelines for library professionals remain scarce. The paper emphasizes the need for ongoing education and training to equip librarians with the necessary skills to navigate ethical dilemmas effectively. Additionally, it advocates for more integrated research that connects ethical principles with practical applications, aiming to foster a secure and trustworthy environment for library users.
