Effects of Talent Management on Organizational Commitment and Support

In relation to organisational commitment and support, talent attraction, recruitment, development and retention have been
identified as key strategic tools in the educational sector. This paper employed stratified random sampling technique of
survey research design to elicit responses from 464 respondents in public and private universities within Ogun State, Nigeria.
Instrument validity and reliability were ascertained via relevant scrutiny and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients, respectively.
Analysis in the paper was anchored on regression models involving appropriate talent management (TM) and organisational
commitment and support indicators. Findings showed that the talenet management variables exerted significant positive
effects on organisational commitment [F(4, 460) = 8.111, p = 0.000 < 0.05] and support [F(4,460) = 10.641, p = 0.000 < 0.05).
The findings showed differing magnitudes of effects of the TM variables commitment and support. Collectively, the TM
variables exert statistically significant effect on organisational support in the university institutions. Consequently, the paper
emphasised the need to attract, recruit, develop, train, and retain talented individuals so as to engender sustained
organisational commitment and support in the universities institutions.
